Real Housewives of Atlanta star Shamea Morton is speaking out after a medical nightmare.
According to Us Weekly, Shamea is accusing an Atlanta doctor of negligently burning her during a chemical peel performed in March 2024.
On October 31, Shamea and her husband, Gerald Mwangi, filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against Dr. Jing Jing Wong Harris, her company Pretty Faces Atlanta, and multiple other defendants.
In the suit, Shamea claims she should never have undergone a chemical peel due to a pre-existing diagnosis of Tinea Versicolor, a fungal skin condition.
She alleges she should have been referred to a licensed dermatologist instead of receiving the treatment.
The lawsuit further states that even without the fungal condition, the peel performed—specifically two passes—was completely inappropriate for her skin.
Shamea argues the treatment failed to consider African American skin, lacked proper skin prep, and skipped less aggressive pigment correcting options using medical grade skincare.
Shamea also alleges a third-party defendant used an overly strong chemical peel on her back and arms without a doctor present.
Resulting in second degree burns, blistering, and permanent scarring.
Shamea’s screams during the procedure were so intense that the doctor entered the room for the first time only after hearing them.
The suit alleges that after seeing Shamea crying, Dr. Harris applied an unknown solution from a spray bottle but had never consulted, examined, or approved the treatment plan beforehand.
