Mandy Moore is finally addressing the celebrity mommy drama that dominated the beginning of the year.
The actress dished on Andy Cohen’s radio show about how she felt when Ashley Tisdale penned a personal essay for The Cut detailing her decision to “break up” with their mommy group.
“It’s wild to have anybody talk about your life, and I know Hilary [Duff] has sort of mentioned this too,” Mandy began.
“It’s like we both have grown up in this business and had people dissect who we are and the choices we make and all of that, but this was something altogether different and decidedly way more upsetting,” she said.
“It just cuts to the core.”
Despite Ashley not naming names, the internet quickly pieced together the friend group she allegedly felt was “toxic.”
The group consisted of actresses Hilary Duff and Mandy Moore, along with singer Meghan Trainor.
“The most important thing in my life is being a kind person and that legacy of kindness, and anyone even insinuating that that might not be the case, and with the company that I choose to keep, is very upsetting,” Mandy added.
“I’d say that was the biggest takeaway, sort of the shock of like, ‘Wow.’”
Wow, Ashley, Wow
The This Is Us actress also said the story perpetuates the idea that women friend groups are “inherently petty.”
“I’ve actually been so surprised by the meaningful relationships I found with other moms and other parents just in general,” Mandy continued.
“That has always been my takeaway, and you need that. You need community. You need to find that support wherever you can get it. You need to be able to talk about all of that,” she said.
ICYMI: Back in February, Hilary Duff addressed her former friend’s essay and shared similar feelings.
She also questioned the timing of the article dropping, considering Ashley exited the group nearly a year earlier.
