Reality TV had a major moment at the 78th Creative Arts Emmy Awards, with The Traitors US and Love On The Spectrum earning multiple honors across several categories.
Peacock’s The Traitors continued its awards-season reign, with host Alan Cumming taking home the Emmy for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program.
The series also won for Outstanding Directing for a Reality Program for the episode, Let The Cards Fall As They Will.
The Peacock reality competition was recognized in several additional technical categories. The Traitors earned an Emmy for Picture Editing for a Structured Reality or Competition Program for The Death Conga, while its overall cinematography was honored in the Cinematography for a Reality Program category.
The show’s elaborate sets and costumes also paid off, with The Traitors winning Production Design and Outstanding Costumes for a Variety or Reality Series for The Black Banquet.
Netflix’s Love On The Spectrum was another big reality TV winner. The beloved dating series took home the Emmy for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program, while its fourth episode won for Picture Editing for an Unstructured Reality Program.
The Netflix series also earned the Emmy for Casting for a Reality Program, Logan and Dylan being my personal newbies!
Meanwhile, HBO Max‘s My Mom Jayne: A Film By Mariska Hargitay scored major recognition outside of traditional reality programming. The documentary won Directing for a Documentary/Nonfiction Program as well as Documentary or Nonfiction Special.
