We have a legal update in KJ Biermann’s recent arrest for alleged sexual assault.
The son of RHOA alum Kim Zolciak-Biermann filed a legal petition requesting to be released on bond while awaiting court proceedings following his arrest.
Per court documents obtained by Us Weekly, KJ’s attorneys requested the teenager’s release on Wednesday, September 2.
KJ’s legal team claimed their client is not a flight risk and cited his academic and athletic record as evidence of his good character.
The lawyers further noted that the 15-year-old has strong ties to the local community, including his parents and siblings.
“His ties to his family and community are substantial. His parents live separately, and he maintains a home and relationship with each,” his court documents stated.
“Beyond his immediate family, he is surrounded by an established community of extended family, friends, coaches, teachers and others who remain actively involved in his life and continue to support him and his family during the pendency of these serious allegations.”
ICYMI: KJ was arrested in Alpharetta, Georgia, on August 17 on charges of aggravated sodomy and aggravated sexual assault.
KJ was remanded to the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center pending a court hearing scheduled for Tuesday, September 8.
He is currently facing two felony charges that each carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years.
If found guilty on both counts, KJ could potentially face up to 50 years.
Both Kim and her son have denied the allegations.
