Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann’s 15-year-old son, Kroy “KJ” Biermann Jr., was given bad news after a judge denied his request to close the courtroom during proceedings in his sodomy and sexual battery case.
According to court documents exclusively obtained by Page Six, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Melynee Leftridge determined that KJ had not met the “high legal standard” required to close the courtroom.
However, the judge granted other privacy protections for the high school student, who appeared on Bravo TV‘s Real Housewives of Atlanta and Don’t Be Tardy.
Leftridge ordered restrictions on media recording and photography “to the extent necessary” to implement the court’s protective measures. The judge also ordered KJ’s juvenile court records to remain under seal, meaning those records will not be available for public viewing.
The judge did not grant KJ’s request to prevent prosecutors from presenting limited information from his juvenile court case. Prosecutors are permitted to present information they believe is relevant to the court’s consideration of his bond.
The latest ruling comes as prosecutors seek additional access to the alleged victims in the case. Prosecutors filed an emergency motion asking the court to order forensic interviews of “minor children.”
KJ was arrested last month and subsequently indicted on seven charges, including aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, aggravated sexual battery, three counts of aggravated sexual battery against a child under 16 and false imprisonment. Prosecutors claim KJ made disturbing sexual videos with a family member under 12, which are being used in court as evidence.
KJ has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Last Friday, the teenager was granted a $200,000 bond with strict conditions attached.
