Ally Lewber called out Lisa Vanderpump‘s misogynistic response to the night James Kennedy was arrested.
The former Vanderpump Rules personality shared her story on The Viall Files.
The call:
Ally responded to Lisa alluding to James’ arrest being an overreaction on Ally’s part. “I just thought that was kind of gross on her part. But, maybe I’m not understanding the full context of why she made the statement.”
“All I’ll say [about LVP], is she called me and she did make sure, like, ‘Are you okay?’ I mean, this was like two months later, but she called and made sure. Maybe a month [later]. I don’t know. Certainly not the next day. But, she called and checked in on me.”
Ally reflected on LVP and James’ relationship:
Lisa is “very protective over James. I get it because I was too for a long time. It’s very motherly.”
“That’s, yeah. I think that she feels protected like a mother to him. And I thought that was really weird at first when I first got on the show. Then, I kind of started to understand it a little more.”
LVP pressured Ally. “She was basically like, ‘Ally, he needs you. You’re really good together.’ She was like, ‘You should go travel with him to his shows this weekend.’ I’m like, first of all, what shows? He’s canceled right now. And also, no.”
Ally was in a vulnerable place when LVP contacted her. “I just moved into an apartment. We were not together. But it was really weird. On the call, I was kind of weak in the moment.”
That caused Ali to begin “questioning everything.”
LVP, the producer of VPR:
Ally was asked if she thinks James asked her to call Ally on his behalf. “I don’t know,” answered Ally. “I really don’t know.”
“I called a bunch of friends after [chatting with Lisa]. I told them everything she said. They were like, ‘No. She’s a producer. That’s her trying to literally, quite literally produce and get you guys back together.”
Ally and LVP’s dynamic:
The astrologer was asked if she feels like she needs “to protect Lisa Vanderpump in this moment. Or, is it more are you afraid of Lisa Vanderpump?”
Ally answered, “I’m not afraid” of Lisa. “I’m not scared of her because like, what would she do? But also like, there is a part of me that still feels like, I still respect her in some way, which maybe I shouldn’t.”
“There’s a lot of reasons why it’s easy to be a fan of hers. So, even for me, just even being critical or on the show feels kind of wrong.”
Ally’s epiphany:
“Looking back, because I thought [Lisa’s phone call] was sweet. She’s calling to check in. Then, it took talking to friends to realize that she doesn’t care.”
Lisa blamed BOTH James and Ally drinking for the incident. “You guys are young. This is what happens when people drink. Ken was also a playboy and naughty when we were younger and I had to whip him into shape.”
“It’s kind of a little misogynistic, but she was like, ‘You’re going to kiss a lot of frogs and you’re going to marry a frog too. That’s just the way that it is.”
“I don’t want to marry a frog,” declared Ally.
