Nation’s Dumbest, a new reality competition show coming to Fox and Hulu, is based on a Norwegian show, which expanded to Sweden, Denmark, and Finland.
Based on a Scandinavian format, Deadline revealed that the project was in development at the end of last year.
The concept:
Hosted by British comedian Jack Whitehall, the network has lined up a slew of celebs aiming not to be the dumbest in the country.
Nation’s Dumbest is the first television show where the loser is the winner.
In Nation’s Dumbest, public figures fight it out to be eliminated from the competition as quickly as possible to avoid being crowned the nation’s dumbest.
From influencers to wrestlers, comedians to politicians, the contestants are put to the test. There’s a series of physical and mental rounds about all the things you really should know.
Fox is calling its version a celebrity competition series that “flips the genre on its head. For the first time, the goal isn’t to win — it’s to get eliminated”.
The cast:
Celebs featured are JoJo Siwa (Dance Moms), Chase Hudson (TikTok), Matt Leinart (Former Arizona Cardinals QB), Andrew Yang (politician – Yang Gang represent!), Elle King (musician), Anthony Michael Hall (actor), Hilaria Baldwin (Alec Baldwin’s wife), Steve-O (Jackass), Ice-T (rapper/actor), Carmen Electra (Baywatch), Dr. Drew Pinsky (Celeb Rehab) and Jon Heder (Napolean Dynamite).
Several of these stars have already participated in the reality TV circuit.
Jojo Siwa has appeared on The Masked Singer, Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, Dancing With the Stars, and Hell’s Kitchen. Ice-T was on The Masked Dancer. Carmel Electra was a guest host on Domino Masters, and Dr. Drew Pinsky, who featured on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.
Jack Whitehall is best known in the States as one of the stars of Peacock’s The ‘Burbs. He stars alongside Keke Palmer … and the show was renewed for a second season.
Nation’s Dumbest marks his first U.S. network hosting gig. The series will debut this summer on Wednesday, July 15th, at 9pm.
