Vasana Montgomery addressed her removal from the villa ahead of the Love Island USA season 8 premiere.
The former Islander posted a statement to her Instagram Story apologizing for resurfaced videos in which she used a racial slur.
āI want to address a couple videos from my teen years that have recently resurfaced. In those videos, I used a racial slur,ā Vasana began on June 3.
āThere is no excuse for it, and I am deeply sorry.ā
The social media influencer admitted to being āembarrassed and disappointedā by her words and said she takes responsibility for them and the harm they may have caused.
āSince then, I have grown a lot as a person and taken the time to educate myself, listen, learn, and better understand the impact that language can have,ā Vasana continued.
āThat growth does not erase my mistake, and I am not asking anyone to excuse it.ā
ICYMI: Ahead of the June 2 season 8 premiere, production removed Vasana after multiple videos resurfaced showing the Islander using derogatory language.
Casting claimed the videos were uploaded to a private account and therefore were not discovered during the vetting process.
This comes after Cierra Ortega was infamously removed midway through season 7 when resurfaced images of her using a different racial slur hit timelines.
Prior to Cierra getting the boot, production also removed Yulissa Escobar.
Yulissa exited abruptly during the second episode for, you guessed it, using derogatory language.
