Kathryn Dennis, who used to star on Bravo’s Southern Charm, was sentenced to serve 30 days in the Berkeley County jail after she was caught driving under the influence last year in Goose Creek.
Count on News 2 was first to report Kathryn’s news.
The crime:
On Monday, May 20, 2024, Kathryn was involved in a three-vehicle crash.
When officers arrived at the collision scene, bystanders informed police that Kathryn might be impaired. They could smell alcohol on her, according to the incident report. The responding officers noticed Kathryn had glossy eyes when she approached.
Police found an unopened mini-Fireball bottle on the driver’s side floorboard and an empty pink tumbler. When the responding officer went to speak with Kathryn, he said he also smelled alcohol coming from her. They asked if she had been drinking or taking medication, and Kathryn said no.
While at the detention center, the officer said Dennis admitted to them that she had drunk alcohol ‘way earlier’ even though she said she had not initially.
In case you missed it:
Although this is Kathryn’s first offense with drinking and driving, it isn’t her first run-in with the law.
In November 2023, a vehicle registered to Kathryn was involved in a hit-and-run of an elementary school employee. Thankfully, no one was hurt and Kathryn wasn’t charged with any crimes.
Additionally, it’s no secret that Kathryn has struggled with substance abuse issues in the past. It was so bad, she lost custody of her children with ex/costar Thomas Ravenel in 2016 after testing positive for marijuana and entering rehab.
After years of the exes going back and forth in their custody battle, Thomas was granted primary full custody of the kids last year. Kathryn has supervised visitation every other weekend.
