Lala Kent is reflecting on just how hard it was to lose Katie Maloney as a close friend.
During the May 1 episode of the Unlikely Affair podcast, Lala told cohost Ambyr Childers that Katie was her most difficult adult friendship breakup.
“At the reunion, the final season, I brought something up that Katie believed was just between the two of us,” Lala began.
“I made her feel like she had been betrayed.”
ICYMI: During the Vanderpump Rules Season 11 reunion, Lala outed Katie’s true feelings about her business partner, Ariana Madix.
At the time, Katie and Ariana’s sandwich shop, Something About Her, was up and running while Ariana was booked and busy.
Katie had vented to Lala that she felt alone — something Lala later revealed at the reunion to make the point that the cast wasn’t being fully authentic.
The Valley star said her sponsor encouraged her to write Katie a text, but only when she felt mentally ready and without expecting a response.
Which, by the way, Lala revealed she did not receive after sending it.
“You have to mean it so deeply to your core that when you send it, you expect nothing back,” she recalled.
Still, despite feeling at peace after reaching out and moving on, Lala admitted the loss remains “brutal.”
“That friendship revived me. I felt safe, seen, and it breaks my heart to know that in a matter of moments I didn’t make her feel the same.”
From various press interviews over the years, it appears that was the last time Katie and Lala spoke.
