It appears art imitates life in Zoe Young and Chelsea Handler‘s new project, Townhouse, which is seemingly drew inspo Real Housewives of New York alum, Sonja Morgan.
Variety reported that Hulu is developing the comedy series.
Townhouse:
Per the official logline, the show follows “a washed-up reality star and her live-in entourage of misfits as they scramble to rehab her image and reboot her career.”
“When her estranged daughter unexpectedly moves into their crumbling Manhattan townhouse, the TV has-been is confronted with the one role she’s spent her entire life avoiding: motherhood.”
Should the show move forward, Chelsea would play the lead role. Zoe is the creator, writer, and executive producer of the project. The show would mark her first TV writing credit as a recent graduate of USC’s Writing for Screen & Television MFA program.
Although Sonja’s always had a close relationship with her daughter, Quincy, other aspects of the show’s premise sounds very Sonja-inspired. In addition to the obvious title, Townhouse, the show’s main character is known in the world of reality tv and has a crew of misfits, similar to Sonja’s interns.
Sonja’s townhouse:
The upcoming star of E!’s The Golden Life sold her Upper East Side townhouse in May 2024 for $4.45 million. This was a significant loss from the $9.1 million she paid in 1998.
The 4,650-square-foot home featured heavily on RHONY sold after years of listing attempts. It’s been converted into a sober living facility.
RHONY fans will remember the home for hosting events like the infamous toaster oven party and various, often chaotic, gatherings. Sonja expressed mixed emotions about leaving the home, describing it as an “end of an era.”
