A new documentary about Elizabeth Holmes, the disgraced Theranos founder who was sentenced to more than 11 years in prison for fraud, is set to hit theaters next month.
Theranos was a Silicon Valley biotechnology company that claimed it revolutionized blood testing with technology capable of performing numerous tests using just a few drops of blood. At the height of Theranos’ success, Holmes became one of the most recognizable figures in Silicon Valley and was famously named the world’s youngest self-made female billionaire.
Her empire ultimately collapsed after investigations revealed that Theranos’ technology did not work as Holmes had claimed. She was later convicted of multiple counts of fraud and sentenced to 11 years and three months in federal prison.
Now, her story is being revisited in the A24 documentary You Can See Everything, from filmmakers Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim.
The film’s synopsis reads, “Thirty-four days before she’s sent to prison, notorious Silicon Valley founder Elizabeth Holmes invites a skeptical film crew to document her every move.”
One of the documentary’s most unusual elements is that Holmes appears as herself rather than being portrayed by an actress. In the trailer, she can be seen speaking with Fielder inside her home.
Fielder and Oppenheim reportedly received unusually intimate access to Holmes, her husband Billy Evans, and their family.
Never forget: Elizabeth Holmes is serving time in the same prison as Ghislaine Maxwell. During her fraud sentence, Elizabeth even became friendly with former Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah before her early release.
You Can See Everything is set to be released in October.
