Hilary Duff is finally breaking her silence on the mommy group drama that dominated headlines earlier this year.
While appearing on Call Her Daddy, Hilary reacted to Ashley Tisdale’s January essay for The Cut, titled “Breaking Up with My Toxic Mom Group.”
“I felt really sad. I honestly felt really sad,” the Lizzie McGuire alum admitted.
“I was pretty, pretty taken aback and just felt…sad.”
ICYMI: While Ashley never explicitly named names, all signs pointed to the tight knit celeb mom circle that included Hilary, Mandy Moore, and Meghan Trainor.
Hilary’s husband, Matthew Koma, even appeared to troll the situation at the time, jokingly posting a mock headline:
“When You’re the Most Self-Obsessed, Tone-Deaf Person on Earth, Other Moms Tend to Shift Focus to Their Actual Toddlers.”
Putting the pieces together, it became obvious many believed Ashley’s essay was aimed squarely at Hilary’s group.
“So I think I was just like, ‘Woah,’” Hilary continued.
“It sucks to read something that’s not true. And it sucks on behalf of six women and all of their lives.”
The luck…or something singer also questioned the timing of Ashley’s essay, which dropped just as she was preparing to release new music and embark on a world tour.
“It came at the craziest time… the timing felt not great, and I felt used.”
Still, Hilary says she ultimately tunes out the noise when things feel overwhelming.
“On the days when crazy sh*t happens, I go home and quiet the noise.”
