Erika Jayne is opening up about her new romance!
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star recently spoke to Us Weekly about her relationship with John “Shrek” McPhee, a decorated military veteran and former Delta Force operator.
Outside of his military career, John has also worked as a bodyguard for The Hills alum Heidi Montag — a connection that ultimately led to his introduction to Erika.
According to Erika, the two first met while she was performing at London’s Mighty Hoopla festival.
John was in attendance with his “friend,” Spencer Pratt, aka Heidi’s husband.
The Pretty Mess recognized him from a couple of podcasts she had previously listened to, which sparked her interest.
“I’m gonna walk up and say hello, and that’s exactly what I did,” Erika told Us Weekly of their first interaction.
The Bravoleb joked that her direct approach doesn’t exactly work in speed dating scenarios.
This of course was a nod to the most recent RHOBH episode where Bozoma Saint John attempted to play matchmaker within the group.
What viewers may find most surprising is the version of Erika we’re seeing this season.
Instead of her signature bold, in-your-face stage persona, Erika has appeared noticeably more reserved when it comes to discussing her dating life.
EJ explained that she’s typically drawn to intelligent, career centric men, something she says originally attracted her to her estranged husband, Tom Girardi.
“I need to feel comfortable. I need to feel calm — this person is centered,” she shared.
During a recent Watch What Happens Live taping, Erika confirmed the two have been together for six months and plan to spend the holidays together.
