The people have spoken, and it’s in the form of a Change.org petition to keep Jill Zarin off of E!‘s recently announced new show, The Golden Years.
In case you missed it:
The former Real Housewives of New York personality has received backlash for her racist remarks about Bad Bunny’s halftime show being “inappropriate.” Jill claimed no white people were in the halftime performance, despite Lady Gaga performing along a diverse group of dancers and guests.
Fans of RHONY have shared their disappointment in Jill, as have several other Housewives from across the globe.
Petition starter, G S, posted the following request to Change.org.
Our request
We ask E! Network to:
- Remove Jill Zarin from the cast of The Golden Life before the series films.
- Publicly reaffirm E!’s commitment to inclusive standards for talent and casting.
- Confirm a clear conduct standard that discourages platforming discriminatory remarks.
Why we’re asking
Fans are excited about an RHONY reunion-style project, but that excitement is undermined by the inclusion of Jill Zarin following public remarks that many viewers experienced as discriminatory toward Spanish language and Latino representation, particularly comments made in reaction to Bad Bunny’s Spanish-language Super Bowl halftime performance.
We want a series that’s funny, messy, and iconic—without normalizing rhetoric that targets marginalized communities and fosters division and hate.
Why this matters
E! is building goodwill with longtime fans. Casting decisions signal what the network is willing to platform. Keeping Jill Zarin attached risks:
- alienating diverse viewers who support the franchise,
- damaging the show’s launch with preventable controversy,
- signaling tolerance for discriminatory commentary.
What success looks like:
If E! removes Jill Zarin from The Golden Life and reaffirms inclusive standards, we will support the show and encourage others to do the same.
In case you care to sign the petition.
