Re-Inventing Anna?
The formerly incarcerated con artist explained,ย “When I say something is not for me, it doesn’t mean I [think] I’m better than this or I’m condescending.”ย
“I’m just being realistic and recognizing what I’m good at and what I’m not good at. Ideally, you are supposed to figure out what you’re good at and lean into that. I’m not like you, an actress.” She admitted, “I’m not an entertainer. I’ve never performed anything in front of a live audience. I thought, ‘Let me try it out.'”
She told the Beverly Hills 90210ย alum, “I have respect for people who have the capacity to put themselves out out there. It’s just not for me.”ย
Anna knew her presence wasn’t wanted on the show from what she saw on social media. “I think I’m just like doing everyone in favor. It’s sparing them.”
Anna’s trial affected her relationship with cameras:
“Theย wayย I’veย beenย introducedย intoย theย publicย eyeย isย likeย throughย myย criminalย trial. When you areย in court, it’s public, so anyone can come in. They take pictures of you every day,” elaborated Anna. “There’s nothing you can do about it. I’m used to always being on guard.”
In court, “It doesn’t benefit you to cry or show any emotion because it will always be interpreted in some way that’s not beneficial.” She wonders if that experience followed her to the ballroom.ย “Iย wasย nervous. And, I think my focus was to perform the steps how I’ve been trained. I was born in Russia. We did ballet. You have to do the steps. Nobody wants to see you smile.”
