Returning Real Housewives of Orange County star Vicki Gunvalson described why she thinks the show has evolved into something “stupid” over the years.
Vicki was a guest on The Viall Files podcast and discussed the negative tone RHOC has adopted.
Has RHOC lost the plot?
“I don’t like the way the show has turned the last few years,” explained Vicki. “I think it’s just become meaningless. There are a lot of beautiful and meaningful things to watch on TV and listen to on podcasts.”
“Whenever I tried to turn on RHOC, I was like, ‘I’m wasting an hour of my time. This is ridiculous.'”
“I couldn’t follow what was going on. A lot of the fault is with the producers. [They] come in and they’re trying to create some crazy drama that isn’t there.”

“So, I look at it from a different perspective. I thought we were supposed to showcase our real lives, not being detectives. To me, it’s become stupid.”
“The majority of the people I speak with are like, ‘You’ve gotta come on and get the stupid out.’ When things are going around in circles trying to figure out who is mad at who … Is this what life is about?”
“My hope is that we can bring it back to real issues that people are having in their lives. Whether it’s raising kids, kids that are sick, marriage problems, or building businesses, I never even anticipated I would fight with someone on reality TV. It was not even part of the rules.”
