For viewers loving The Challenge: Cutthroat, it looks like we won’t be seeing the cast rehash all of this season’s drama anytime soon.
Season 42 competitor Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio revealed on his podcast, Death, Taxes, and Bananas, that despite this being one intense season, there reportedly won’t be a reunion.
“Bummer, I don’t think we’re doing a reunion this year, man. What the hell?” Johnny told his podcast guest and fellow competitor Justin Hinsley during the Sept. 25 episode.
“This would have probably been the best reunion ever,” Johnny continued.
ICYMI:
Based on the drama alone, Johnny’s assessment of a potential reunion makes sense.
Three Challenge contestants were disqualified after breaking the show’s code of conduct.
Nelson Thomas, Leo Dionicio, and Josh Goldstein were sent packing following a heated incident involving an alleged racial slur that escalated.
The trio’s disqualification came after Cory Wharton voluntarily left Thailand due to medical complications involving his youngest daughter, Maya.
Cory also found himself in hot water over his showmance with Izzy Fairthorne — who is NOT his on-again, off-again partner, Taylor Selfridge, who was back home caring for their daughters.
Speaking of potentially crossing lines, Anna-Leigh Wilson and disqualified contestant Leo also got pretty close during the season.
Only problem is, Anna-Leigh has a husband rooting for her back home.
And then there’s all the normal friction and personality clashes that come with a high-pressure competition show where contestants eat, sleep, live, and compete together.
In other words, there would have been PLENTY to discuss at a reunion.
The Challenge moved to Paramount+ for Season 42 as the franchise shifted away from its longtime home on MTV.
