Stephen Colletti is getting real about reality TV pay and it’s not what you’d expect.
The Laguna Beach star revealed on the Chicks in the Office podcast that getting paid at all was “a battle.”
“It was our parents who stepped in and were like, the kids should get something,” Stephen shared.
“It was actually sort of a battle to get our $2,000.”
The cast had to bring in lawyers and go back and forth with production before ever seeing that money.
“We thought at that time, we were rich,” the Traitors star joked.
“It’s so funny looking back how we did the whole first season for that.”
And to be clear: that’s $2,000 total… not per episode.
ICYMI: Laguna Beach Season 1 casting was as old-school as it gets.
MTV producers literally set up a table at Laguna Beach High School during lunch and handed out detailed, 19-page questionnaires to students — digging into relationships, crushes, and social dynamics.
During Roku’s Laguna Beach reunion special, Stephen, Lauren Conrad, and Kristin Cavallari all reflected on what it was really like filming the show that started it all.
