Mozambique Restaurant Review, as seen on Real Housewives of Orange County!
Updated (again) August 30, 2025
Laguna Beach’s eatery, Mozambique, must be a fav of the ladies and/or production. The South African restaurant hosted Gretchen Rossi and Gina Kirschenheiter for their meet-up with Kiki Monique, the content creator with whom Katie Ginella spoke about her cast mates for the 8th episode of season 19.
Gina, who doesn’t drink, ordered a Diet Coke while Gretchen had a spicy, skinny margarita, not too spicy.
Kiki Monique ordered a Sancerre (which, btw, is my favorite white wine … TASTE!) The restaurant doesn’t offer Sancerre, so they likely served her one of the Sauvignon Blancs they do offer, Kim Crawford ($13/glass) or The Beachhouse ($10/glass).

Two-thirds of the fractured ‘Tres Amigas’ friend group returned to Laguna Beach’s Mozambique. During the seventh episode of season 18, Tamra was joined by Shannon, who she believes is an alcoholic. After an awkward interaction between the ‘friends,’ Tamra finally let the mouse go when Shannon mentioned she was being sued by John Janssen.
While the Housewives didn’t enjoy food and beverages during this trip, my husband and I ate and drank well during our visit to the ocean side restaurant earlier this year.
Here’s what we thought …

Vicki Gunvalson, Tamra Judge, and Shannon Beador ate at Mozambique in Laguna Beach so I ate at Mozambique in Laguna Beach.
After the Tres Amigas from Real Housewives of Orange County enjoyed drinks and lunch at the South African inspired restaurant, my husband and I decided – translation: my husband humored me and tagged along – to dine like a Real Housewife at an Orange County hotspot while on vacation.
Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the restaurant’s roof deck provides priceless views.
For context …
During the 8th and 9th episodes of the 17th season of RHOC, the Bravo TV personalities met and discussed a variety of topics, from Vicki wearing crotch-less panties to rumors about Shannon’s relationship with then-fiancé, John Janssen.
Shannon gestured for Heather Dubrow to ‘read between the lines’ after she told Gina Kirschenheiter and Emily Simpson about issues in her relationship with then-fiancé, John Janssen.
RHOC’s Mozambique orders:
Shannon prepared for the amiga reunion with a round of neat tequila shots with salted rims. Each of the ladies drank margaritas with spicy rims as they cheered to Whooping It Up.
The ladies shared a cheese board, which is not on the menu. The menu does feature a charcuterie board ($32) which includes prosciutto, salami, walnuts, macadamia nuts, seasonal fruit, honey, toasted crostini and Parmesan crisps.
They also indulged in the Peri-Peri Chicken Pops, which includes 3 wood grilled chicken skewers served on a grilled pineapple, with house-made slaw and Peri-Peri sauce. This gluten free option costs $19.
Drinks:
My husband, George, ordered an African Mojito, which combines Absolut Citron vodka, Chambord, muddled lemon + grape, and lemon lime soda.
Although he was thrown by having a mint-less mojito, my husband loved the prominent Chambord flavor, but struggled getting the muddled grapes through the straw.
I had the Spicy Roberto and it was the perfect pairing for the sunny day.
El Jimador tequila, watermelon liquor, and tabasco were served on the rocks and had a Tajin rim.

Taste of Reality’s food for thought:
For lunch, George had the South African Pie. It was stuffed with beef and mushrooms and served with curry gravy and seasoned fries. While it may come across as “exotic” to many, the entree was described as hearty and delicious.
In case there is a finicky eater in your party, this is a very “basic” option. George compared it to a beef pot pie. With major stroganoff vibes, this puff pastry was filled to the brim with beef. The curry was served on the side, which was beyond yummy with fries.
I ordered the Peri-Peri Prawns, which was to die for.
The entree included 3 wood grilled prawns, butterflied and served shell-on. It came with Mozambique rice, mixed vegetables, and Peri-Peri sauce.
I’d eat this entree on the regular if I was local.
