Lala Kent reflects on the ending of Vanderpump Rules.
Lala appeared on the Not Skinny but Not Fat podcast and indulged fans in the BTS tea we want to know.
At the time of the interview, news that Vanderpump Rules was getting a complete cast reboot hadn’t yet hit airwaves. But once it did, cameras (nay, podcast mics) picked back up to capture Lala’s true feelings about Bravo’s decision to revive the franchise.
“I don’t want to say that I’m fine with it because I’m not. It was like the greatest time of my whole life,” Lala begins.
“But at some point, like you have to look at the bigger picture and say, you know, is this show, are we even able to film it any longer?”
These were the best days of their lives
After news broke the cast was leaving, it was revealed that Katie Maloney hadn’t planned on coming back for season 12.
Lala had a similar sentiment prior to season 11, wanting to end her time on the cult classic “on a high.”
“I’m the one who always, every time a season wraps up, I’m like, ‘I’m never coming back, I’m moving on.’”
“And then I get the call, you know, time passes and it’s like, hey, we’re ready to pick cameras back up. And I’m like, ‘oh my God, I can’t wait.’”
In the wake of the announcement, Lala takes issue with some of her costars cavalier disposition.
“Anyone who’s acting okay with it, I just, I feel like it’s a slap in the face,” she said. “Do we realize we have all these opportunities that are fabulous because of Vanderpump rules?”
Lala continued,
“Without this show, no one gives a fuck about any of us. And I just tried to always remember that. Like I always tried to remember what got me to this place.”
“Because before Vanderpump, I was just a bitch trying to beat the streets, a squirrel trying to get a nut. And like this show changed my whole life.”
It seems like Lala is making pointed commentary toward both Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney.
The Give Them Lala founder lost her father in 2018. Since his passing, she’s more of a sentimental person when it relates to “time.”
“I try not to think on it too much, because then I start going into like all of the memories and it just being over and then I start going into this stage of grief.”
