Southern Charm alum Kathryn Dennis is being sued over the May 2024 car accident that resulted in her being sentenced to 30 days in jail.
The case against Kathryn:
Plaintiff Larry Patrick Griffin was behind the wheel of a 2012 Honda sedan when the crash occurred, as per reports from Page Six. The lawsuit alleges that Kathryn caused him “bodily injury, pain and suffering, mental anguish, and damage to his property.”
The court docs stated Kathryn was “driving while under the influence and sway of alcohol and/or other controlled substance(s)” when she hit a 2017 Nissan that then, in turn, ended up hitting his car “in the rear.”
“She made the conscious decision to drive a motor vehicle on a public roadway while under the influence and intoxication of alcoholic beverages, and/or other controlled substances.”
Reparation:
The Plaintiff did not state the exact monetary amount for which he is suing. He did, however, ask the court for the “just and proper” relief. He asked the court to consider the “property damage, punitive damages,” and “the costs of this action.”
Kathryn’s insurance company, State Farm, is named as a co-defendant in the suit. The carrier said in an answer to the complaint that it “denies the allegations,” partly “for lack of information at this time.”
Kathryn is currently serving time for her crime:
After being convicted of driving under the influence, Kathryn is at Berkeley County jail for 30 days.
The former Bravolebrity was initially arrested right when the three-vehicle collision happened. Cops reportedly found her at the time with “glossy eyes and an odor of alcohol coming from her person.”
She was driving with an open container, according to Page Six, which was allegedly several mini bottles of Fireball.
According to ABC News 4, Dennis denied consuming any alcohol. Later, however, admitted to drinking “way earlier.”
Police footage from the arrest that was released shortly after she was taken into custody. Kathryn was arguing with law enforcement as they tried to conduct field sobriety tests.
