Scheana Shay addressed the accusations of James Kennedy physically abusing Rachel Leviss.
During an episode of the Scheananigans podcast, the Vanderpump Rules OG recounted a conversation she had with Rachel pre-Scandoval about rumors of James being physically abusive.
Did James abuse Rachel?
“Raquel has hinted that James was abusive toward her” and fans want to know if that’t why they ended their engagement, began Scheana.
“I had asked Raquel point blank about [physical abuse], multiple times.”
“As we’ve all seen on Vanderpump Rules when James used to drink he did have a lot of rage and anger.”
James wasn’t “verbally always the nicest,” continued the VPR star.
Like the rest of us in the VanderVerse, Scheana “knew about the verbal abuse” which has been shown in multiple contexts with various people over James’s time on Bravo TV.
According to Scheana, Rachel told her multiple times “Never, never, never, never.”
If not abuse, why did James and Rachel break up?
Scheana does know the “real reason” Rachel [formerly Raquel] dumped James … and it’s not physical abuse.
Rachel “confided in me about something that happened right before they broke up, but that is not my story to tell.”
Although Scheana doesn’t plan on divulging Rachel and James’ story, she’s confident the former beauty pageant contestant will spill it.
“With [Rachel] having a podcast now, I can only imagine she’s going to eventually share that story.”

Another claim of abuse from James, but not of Rachel:
In 2023, James’s ex, Kristen Doute, responded to an IG user who referenced a violent scene outside of Scheana Shay‘s first wedding.
“Didn’t Kristen punch James in the face at the wedding…” asked the social media user.
Kristen interjected, James “shoved me into the bushes. It was cut out.”
“I’m so tired of the narrative that I was abusive because that’s what aired.”
