Hilary Duff just gave more context surrounding her “complicated” and highly speculated family drama.
The millennial pop icon recently graced the cover of Glamour magazine, where she addressed the question many have been asking: why now?
In the feature, Hilary teases two songs from her upcoming album Luck… or Something, dropping Feb. 20.
One of them, We Don’t Talk, she actually performed during her recent mini tour.
The lyrics read in part:
“’Cause we come from the same home, the same blood
A different explanation, but the same thought
People ask me if I’ve seen you and honestly I hate it
’Cause the truth is that I need to
But there’s no way to relay it now if we don’t talk”
Fans quickly assumed the lyrics were about her older sister, Haylie Duff, who has long been rumored to be estranged from Hilary due to them landing on opposite sides of the political spectrum.
Hilary seemingly confirmed the speculation in the Glamour feature — while also soft launching a strained relationship with her father, Robert Duff.
“That’s my family. Those are the people that affect you the most, take up the most space naturally as a human who’s born into something,” Hilary told Glamour.
“Just because you’re born into a family doesn’t mean that it always stays together. You can only control your side and your street.”
The former Disney star also explored that dynamic in another track, The Optimist.
“I’ve had a very complicated life, and my parents had a very complicated thing. I know it’s not rare,” she continued.
“I think it goes back to the theme of, why share now? I guess I just felt ready.”
ICYMI: Hilary’s Lucky Me Tour kicks off June 22, 2026, at the iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The world tour, supporting Luck… or Something, spans seven countries, with North American dates running through summer 2026.
