Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Heather Gay may have lost thirty pounds, but she assured her fans she hasn’t lost touch of who she is.
The Beauty Lab + Laser Founder told Us Weekly that she’s changed because of her life experience, not from losing weight.
The weight of change:
Heather explained, “Anytime a pretty girl stands up for herself, she’s a bitch. When you’re heavier and lead with comedy and self-deprecation, you’re a lot less threatening.”
“I’m as outspoken now as I was when I was thirty pounds heavier. It sometimes reads harsher when the package isn’t as threatening,” reasoned Heather.
“But the truth is, I have a lot more boundaries than I had then. I’ve been freaking burned by women on this show and friends. So, I was meaner to Bronwyn when she came in than I would have been five years ago.”
“But because I’ve been burned and that changes how I am around people. I think I still love to make friends and try to lead with kindness, but certainly the last six years have hardened me a little bit. I’ve become a little more cynical, and I’d like to think a little wiser.
This wasn’t the first time Heather spoke of her weight loss:
You can call Heather Gay a Bad Mormon or a Good Time Girl, just don’t call her a mean girl. After the first installment of the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 5 reunion, fans took to social media to share their opinions of Heather since she’s slimmed down.
Andy Cohen asked a fan question. “Can you see how you were giving mean girl energy this season?” “That’s just an interesting read,” Heather responded. “I guess when I was heavier, I was more of an underdog. So it was OK when I stuck up for myself. Season 1 Heather had a lot more confidence than this girl.”
Heather continued, “This show strips you of your ego. It strips you of your confidence. When I was heavier, I had to fight a lot harder battles and I was a lot meaner.” She brought “a lot more anger and rage” in the past.
The girl mom said that she’s “happy” and “proud” of how far she’s come. But, “I don’t want that to make me meaner. I am different, but it has nothing to do with the fact that I took medication that made me lose weight.”
