Ezra Sosa is ready to make more history in the Dancing With the Stars ballroom.
The DWTS pro spoke with OUT about his dream of being partnered with a male celebrity on a future season of the dance competition show.
“I’m working my magic! I definitely want that 100% to happen,” he told the publication.
“That’s actually been my dream ever since I joined the show. I’ve been so passionate about same-sex dancing in general, especially being part of the queer community. I’ve put in my word to the casting director. We’ll see what happens over time.”
A same-sex male partnership hasn’t hit the ballroom since Season 31, when Shangela competed alongside Gleb Savchenko in 2022.
The season before, pro Jenna Johnson was partnered with JoJo Siwa, with the pair finishing in second place behind Daniella Karagach and NBA star Iman Shumpert.
As an openly gay professional dancer, Ezra takes pride in representing the LGBTQ+ community and says he makes a point to incorporate that representation into his choreography.
“Every single time I choreograph on the show, I’ll always nod to my community or pop culture. Representation truly does matter. When I joined the show, I never thought there would be a space for an openly gay pro to be on Dancing with the Stars. I’m very lucky to be here.”
And Ezra may already have a potential partner waiting in the wings!
Actor Gustavo Carr recently revealed that his dream is to compete on Dancing With the Stars with a male pro.
Gustavo played Jesse in Bring It On: All or Nothing, and this already has my wheels spinning over a Dedication Night dance honoring Hayden Panettiere and the iconic Bring It On sequel.
I see the vision!
