Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Dorit Kemsley wrote about the unsubstantiated rumor that her estranged husband, PK Kemsley, was involved in the armed robbery of their home.
In Dorit’s memoir, Unburdened, the self-proclaimed fashionista discussed the headlines that followed the reports that three male intruders broke into Dorit’s home when she and the kids were there alone.
“One moment I was lifting my head from the pillow,” recalled Dorit. “The next, I was being forced backward, pushed down hard onto my knees. My hands hit the carpet. A gun pressed against the side of my head.”
Dorit detailed her pleading with the intruders to save her and her kids’ lives. Eventually, the perpetrators left the property after taking an “unknown amount of property,” authorities told PEOPLE at the time. “No injuries were reported.”
Thankfully, Dorit’s kids weren’t even aware of the incident. “My children were safe. They had slept through it. They did not know the details. Their mornings still looked the same. Their routines were intact.” Dorit chose to continue filming RHOBH to maintain a sense of “normalcy.”
Dorit struggled knowing her friends had questions about what happened. “There were murmurs that it felt dramatic. That it didn’t quite add up. Perhaps, it was being amplified. Not loud accusations, but subtle skepticism — the kind that hands in the air and forces you to feel it without ever fully confronting it.”
“There was security footage. There was a 911 call.” Dorit added, “There was an active investigation. None of that seemed to matter. It is a strange experience to survive something terrifying and then find yourself subtly interrogated about it. To sense doubt where you expected compassion. And then the undertone darkened.”
Eventually, her own husband was accused of orchestrating the incident. “There were suggestions — not always direct, but unmistakable — that PK had something to do with it. Even now, the accusation feels surreal.”
Despite being in the midst of a contentious divorce, Dorit continues to defend PK’s innocence. “He did not” have anything to do with the robbery.
