Shamea Morton gave an emotional update about her journey to baby number three.
During the final installment of The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 17 reunion, the mother of two revealed that her surrogate miscarried their final male embryo.
“We made it a few days shy of the first trimester before she miscarried,” Shamea shared during the Aug. 23 episode.
Fans have followed Shamea and her husband, Gerald Mwangi’s, journey to having a son over the past few seasons.
Shamea gave birth to her first daughter, Shya, in 2018 and used a surrogate for her second daughter, Shiloh.
Given Shamea’s fertility struggles and the couple’s desire to have a son, some viewers felt Gerald was putting pressure on Shamea to expand their family.
However, the RHOA star said it was actually quite the opposite.
“He’s never put that pressure on me. I put it on myself,” Shamea told Andy Cohen.
Shamea explained that she and Gerald had mutually discussed wanting a big family, but she still blamed herself for not being able to give him the son they hoped for.
“As his wife, I just felt like that one thing I wanted to be able to give him. And I feel like a failure that I can’t do it.”
