Cory Wharton left one “challenge” in Thailand for another back home.
The Season 42 contestant confirmed on Oct. 8 that he and longtime girlfriend Taylor Selfridge, with whom he shares daughters Mila, 6, and Maya, 4, have decided to go their separate ways.
However, it was Taylor who revealed she was the one who left the relationship.
“Yes I left,” Taylor confirmed on Thursday.
“I was sick of not getting basic respect from the person I was with for 9 years and the father of my two children. I’m sure everyone could tell the last few years. I deserve more than that and I’ll get it. End of story,” she wrote.
During this season of The Challenge, Cory wasn’t exactly shy about his flirtation with Izzy Fairthorne.
Nelson Thomas, one of Cory’s close friends and fellow Cut Throat competitor, even attempted to dissuade Izzy from pursuing Cory given his complicated family dynamic back home.
In Cory’s statement acknowledging his split from Taylor, he also apologized to the mother of his two children.
“I’m sorry, Taylor, that things didn’t work out the way we both hoped they would. I know there were times I could’ve been better, and I’m sorry for the ways I let you down,” he wrote in part.
Despite their relationship not working out, Cory says one thing will never change: his commitment to being a girl dad of three.
“These three girls are my entire world, & entering this new chapter it only makes me want to show up for them even more.”
ICYMI:
Cory self-eliminated from the competition after receiving a call about health issues affecting his youngest daughter, Maya.
In addition to Maya and her big sister Mila, whom he shares with Taylor, Cory is also dad to daughter Ryder, 9, with Teen Mom alum Cheyenne Floyd.
