Bravo TV exec Andy Cohen responded to Kelly Bensimon‘s list (including herself) of potential talent for the Real Housewives of New York cast.
Kelly hopes to revive RHONY amid series-low ratings from the reboot.
Top of the list!
During an episode of Andy Cohen Live, the WWHL host confirmed, “She did send me a list.”
Knowing how messy this would be in the press, Andy continued to spill the tea about Kelly’s casting pitch.
Kelly “not only put her own name on the list, but also asked that the show be ‘anchored’ around her,” according to Andy. “Funnily enough, she does email me more than you might expect.”
… and who is more New York than Carrie Bradshaw?!
NAME ‘EM!
Neither Kelly nor Andy dropped names of the women the ‘Scary Island’ star pitched, but Andy did drop a crumb …
“One of the people is someone that I’ve known forever and someone that you know who is not going to do it.”
My guess is Kelly mentioned Andy casting Sarah Jessica Parker for RHONY.
She told Page Six, the “re-revamp needs to put more focus on New York City itself. My biggest criticism,” explained Kelly, “is that the ultimate character on the show is New York. We’re not seeing New York.”
Here’s more of Kelly’s pitch to Andy:
“Everybody says I should be back on Housewives,” explained Kelly, but with one major stipulation …
“I’m happy to do it with – not to be mean – but, like, not this cast.”
“I sent a whole list to Andy. I was like: Here’s the mothership.”
The tabloid reported, “She wouldn’t give up names. But said that no previous stars (except her) were on it.” Kelly also noted, “They have these narratives, these divorces, but they’re all very New York.”
