Bravo TV exec Alex Baskin was interviewed by The Hollywood Reporter and gave Vanderpump Rules fans a tease of what to expect from season 12.
Different, but the same:
“I am so excited for the audience to watch a series that has a lot of the hallmarks of the original but feels completely different,” explained the network’s suit.
“We are not trying to make the series that we did the first time around, and it’s sort of got back to the basic principles of that show, which is falling around a group of interconnected coworkers and friends at SUR.”
VPR (2025’s Version):
“This group just happens to be very different. So, it’s Gen Z and their relationships to each other, to the world, are very different. But, it still has all of the really fun, juicy ingredients.”
“I understand the skepticism,” acknowledged Alex.
“I know that to the audience, this feels like an exercise in putting forward an imposter, but I really would encourage everyone to stick with us and give us a chance, because I think they’re going to be won over.”
“They’re going to see that the show naturally came together, because, again, we didn’t force together a group that didn’t exist, and it’s a lot of fun, and it really captures the life stage that we saw in the early days of Vanderpump Rules.”
“I’m excited to reverse everyone’s skepticism and convert that into enjoyment and passion for the new series.”
What to expect from VPR 12:
“It’s coming up,” promised Alex. “So, it’s not too far away.”
“I would say that there is a lot of dating within the group, a lot of hookups within the group.”
“The friendships are deep. It’s messy, complicated, and really fun. I can’t wait for it to drop. And, I can’t wait for the skepticism to melt away and take the form of enjoyment.”
(Earlier this month, one of our awesome social media followers saw Lisa Vanderpump at Pinky’s Las Vegas. She spilled that VPR 12 drops in October!)
Where my skepticism lies … a note from the author:
If season 12 followed an organic group of friends – as promised – I’d feel a lot more positive about the show’s evolution.
ICYMI, earlier this year, it was reported, “The incoming new cast members finalized their contracts last week [which was May 2025].”
I’m not thrilled with ‘incoming cast members‘ coming in to film with the SUR staff. While Bravo TV thinks we don’t notice casting outside of any natural friend group, they are wrong. And – the majority of the fans – don’t appreciate being played for fools. We just like watching fools on TV.
