Pro dancer Val Chmerkovskiy is officially making his way back to the Dancing with the Stars ballroom after his controversial reaction to feedback of Jenna Johnson’s lift during Super Bowl Night.
Sources told Page Six that Val will reunite with his partner, Jenna Dewan, at rehearsals today after he was issued a one-week suspension from the show.
“The suspension took Val by surprise, but he took it gracefully. He understood.”
While Jenna excelled with Alan during Dedication Night – even earning the dancer her first 10 of the season – Val will return to Jenna’s side to perform on Horror Movie Night.
Val was suspended after he took to social media to make a distateful and violent comment directed at Carrie Ann Inaba over her commentary of his wife, Jenna Johnson’s, choreography.
ICMI, BBC Studios, the production company behind DWTS, shared in a statement, “The well-being of everyone who works on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ is non-negotiable.”
“Val’s social media post was inappropriate and does not reflect the values or standards expected of anyone connected with the show. As a result, he will not participate in next week’s show.”
A resurfaced interview with Entertainment Tonight showed Val ‘joking’ about keying Carrie Ann’s car over comments she made at the judge’s table earlier this season. It does not appear that Val was repremanded for that comment.
Alan Bersten was the pro to ‘Step Up‘ as Jenna Dewan’s partner. Despite only having a few days to rehearse together, Alan and Jenna earned her highest score of the season.
