The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star, Taylor Frankie Paul, and Dakota Mortensen have been granted mutual protective orders for three years.
The judge’s ruling followed the protective order hearing on Thursday, April 30, regarding the custody arrangement for their 2-year-old son, Ever.
Legal deets:
The hearing marked the first time that TFP and her baby daddy had publicly appeared together since news broke of yet another domestic violence investigation from February.
In the livestreamed hearing, Commissioner Russell Minas told the courtroom that the Ever’s folks can’t be in the same place at the same time for very long before “it turns violent.”
“I’m finding that there’s been violence both ways between these parties.”
Minas continued to emphasize Dakota and TFP have to put their child first. “I’m hoping you’re not just people who thrive on the drama and the conflict. You guys have to figure out a lot here. You have to figure out how to function as coparents. This is dysfunctional.”
He told the exes, “You’re linked together for the remainder of your lives. This is your legacy. You’re modeling right now how you deal with conflict to a 2-year-old.” This could “affect” Ever when he “grows up and becomes an adult,” as per the Commissioner.
“Beyond the pale, the toxicity here,” he said, later adding, “I’m really intent on trying to keep the two of you away from each other for now.” Minas also said he intends to keep TFP and Dakota “away from each other for now,” explaining that it is “what’s best” for Ever that they “not be in the same place at the same time.”
“All of the evidence” seems to show that “that is a bad idea,” Minas said. The pair will receive a recommendation about parenting time before their upcoming June 1 hearing.
