Salley Carson is shedding more light on the Viall Files interview that had the internet coming for Nick and Natalie Viall.
The Southern Charm star told Page Six Radio that the husband and wife duo privately reached out to Austen Kroll following backlash over their line of questioning about his late sister, Kyle.
“I could tell he was uncomfortable because his leg was shaking,” Salley shared.
After seeing clips from the January 7 episode, Salley said she reached out to Austen directly.
That’s when he told her Nick and Natalie had called to apologize.
Still, Salley made it clear she doesn’t think that was enough.
“I do think there should be a public apology for sure,” she said. “It needed to be a lot bigger.”
ICYMI: During Austen’s appearance on The Viall Files, Natalie repeatedly pressed him about the tragic passing of his sister, Kyle Kroll, who died in 1994 at just 9 years old after falling during a family hike in North Carolina.
Listeners felt the conversation went on far too long, with many saying the Vialls missed every social cue that Austen was visibly uncomfortable.
A private apology is a start.
But, when the moment went viral and the backlash was public, it’s fair to question whether they actually took accountability.
I still think a public acknowledgment would go a long way for one of the biggest pop culture podcasts in the space…
