Celebrity Wheel Of Fortune featured cast members from Dancing With the Stars, and the show’s host, Ryan Seacrest, had a series of cringe moments with Derek Hough.
Ryan Seacrest and Vanna White welcomed pro dancer Jenna Johnson and DWTS judge Bruno Tonioli to join Derek in competing for the most prize money to donate to the charities of their choice.
An awkward intro:
Ryan introduced DWTS‘s pro-dancer-turned-judge, but there was a lot of subtext in between the lines. “Derek Hough. Where do I begin?”
Never forget, Ryan famously dated Derek’s sister, Julianne Hough, for several years.
“Ry-Ry,” responded Derek. The former American Idol host passed the buck back to Derek. Ryan asked, “How did we first meet?”
Derek stalled, “So many memories, Ry. What shall we share?”
Ryan teased, “Well, the good stuff.”
Everybody cut:
After Derek solved the puzzle, ‘Footloose and Fancy Free,’ Ryan asked if he was in a production of Footloose.
Derek jogged the host’s memory. “I was in ‘Footloose’ in the West End – did 400 shows. Then, my sister [Julianne] ended up being in the remake of the film.”
Ryan teased, “Yes. I remember.” Derek joked, “I know you remember, Ry.” Seacrest smiled like the Cheshire cat.
Derek got them back on track. “[Julianne] crushed it. She did great.”
The ex-factor:
The category was ‘Risky Business,’ and Derek swept the round.
The final in a trio of puzzles about the dangers of texting, Derek successfully solved the puzzle, ‘Texting your ex.’
Ryan added, “Nothing wrong with [texting your ex],” to which Derek made a face that said differently.
It got weirder:
Ry-Ry told USA Today about the havoc Derek and Bruno wreaked during a commercial break. “[Derek] was jumping on the center of the wheel and having Bruno spin it, much like the top of a cake ornament,” Seacrest spilled.
“We did say, ‘Please don’t do that. That would break it, and there’s only one of those wheels.”
“If that breaks, we have a real problem.”
