The Southern Charm cast is weighing in on Craig Conover’s upcoming project, Charmed by a Southern Monster, and let’s just say they have some thoughts about the preview!
Austen Kroll, Charley Manley, Venita Aspen, Madison LeCroy, and Shep Rose reacted to the project, with several questioning the preview’s AI-like appearance and poking fun at Craig’s new acting venture.
Is It AI?
Austen didn’t hold back when discussing the Southern Monster preview, dismissing it as “AI nonsense.”
“It’s not being a hater. It’s just like, you know,” he explained, pointing out that many of the shares the preview received were from people making fun of the project. “You know what’s being said,” Austen added.
Charley also had questions about the preview, though she admitted Southern Charm wasn’t exactly immune to the same criticism.
“You guys, that was crazy. Like … I’m not one to talk because the Southern Charm cast photo looks like AI. It’s looking a little AI,” she quipped.
Still, Charley found a silver lining in Craig’s project, revealing that she enjoys Hallmark movies. “I feel like that’s the vibe,” she said before adding, “Love that for him.”
The girlies spoke out:
Venita also weighed in on the Southern Monster promotional material, suggesting the ad could use some improvement. “Now that poster, baby, it needed a little bit of work. There are so many other options we could have gone with.”
The fashion influencer also took issue with Craig’s beard, suggesting the facial hair wasn’t doing him any favors.
Madison had her own observations about Craig’s on-screen transformation, admitting she was surprised to see him showing off his physique. “I feel like I’ve never seen you with your shirt off really, and we live in a beach town,” she told him.
Dripping with shade, Madison continued, “I was like, ‘Whoa, who is that?’”
Craig, who was interviewed alongside Madison, described the project as “a little steamy.” He revealed that even his assistant “can’t watch.” He teased that viewers can expect “heavy drama, heavy romance, a lot of intimacy, a lot of stunts” and plenty of fights. “It’s dramatic.”
Is this satire?
Shep, meanwhile, seemed convinced that Craig’s project could provide plenty of entertainment — perhaps not for the reasons Craig intended.
“Do I think it’s going to be an unintentional comedy? YES I DO!” Shep declared.
“I think it might be one of the funniest things that have been produced in the last few years,” he added.
However, Shep acknowledged that Craig deserves credit for putting himself out there, regardless of what the critics have to say. “Good for him. He’s taking a risk. Everybody can say what they want, but you go take a risk,” Shep said.
