Shahs of Sunset alum Reza Farahan announced via PEOPLE that he has written a book, Memoirs of a Gay Shah. (The name is a slay, imho.)
Along with MJ and GG, Reza is returning to Bravo TV on January 8, 2026 with a spinoff show, The Valley: Persian Style. Memoirs of a Gay Shah drops April 7th.
The official synopsis:
Reza’s memoir was described as “Heartfelt, hilarious and deeply human.”
It follows an “outcast boy [who] grew into a confident man by reclaiming every part of himself and decided to live not just authentically, but extravagantly.” Reza addressed “his culture, his identity, [and] his queerness” in the book.
The memoir tracks Reza’s life, which took a very unexpected turn at the age of 4 when he and his family found themselves stuck in the United States after “what was supposed to be a quick family trip to Los Angeles” became a “permanent exile” after a revolution erupted in Iran.
“Caught between cultures, identities, and expectations, Reza was an outsider in every sense of the word. He was a half-Muslim, half-Jewish, gay Persian kid just trying to survive 1980s America.” At the time place he was seen “as a threat, even when all he wanted was to belong.”
“But with an unapologetic spirit and bold personality, Reza was never destined to simply fit in. He was meant to shine.”
“Reza eventually became the larger-than-life, fan-favorite star of Shahs of Sunset. He served looks, shade, and cultural pride in equal measure. Now, Reza is opening up about the journey that took him from closeted teen to reality TV royalty, from hiding his truth to owning every inch of his spotlight.”
A note from Reza:
The real estate agent/ reality TV personality revealed this is “the most honest I’ve ever been with myself, with my family, and with everyone who’s watched my journey.”
“Writing it forced me to unpack the funny, the fabulous, and the deeply personal parts of my life.”
“I’m excited (and a little terrified) for people to read it, but mostly I’m proud. Proud of the Persian kid who pushed through a lot to become the man I am today.”
“If this book makes even one person feel seen, understood or a little less alone, then it was all worth it.”
Memoirs of a Gay Shah will hit shelves on April 7, 2026. It’s available now for preorder, wherever books are sold.
