The Real Housewives franchise is expanding!
Frances Berwick, Chairman of Bravo & Peacock Unscripted, revealed on the Nice Talk podcast that the network is eyeing new cities for the long-running franchise.
The network is especially interested in expanding following the success of The Real Housewives of Rhode Island.
However, the success of a franchise in the smallest state may have more to do with its fresh slate of Bravo newbies.
“One of the great things we saw with that show was a lot of the feedback we got was people who had never watched any other Real Housewives show because they felt too much a barrier to entry,” Frances said on the Oct. 8 episode.
Take RHOC, for example.
This year, the Orange County franchise celebrated 20 years on air, totaling more than 360 episodes since its original premiere.
New cities offer new opportunities for fans who want to dive into the fandom without as much upfront investment.
The head of Bravo unscripted also teased that the network is always looking for fresh faces in new cities.
“We are certainly looking at a couple new places with new cast that we are really starting to fall in love with,” Berwick continued.
Just recently, former child actress Christy Carlson Romano revealed she was pitched for a potential Real Housewives of Austin spinoff.
And speaking of another Southern spinoff, country artist Jessie James Decker was the guest bartender on Sunday’s WWHL, where Andy Cohen coyly suggested she would make an excellent housewife.
Real Housewives of Nashville anyone??
So, here’s to another 20 years of Housewives — and hopefully some really cool new cities to add to the map of Bravo greats!
