Porsha Williams’ estranged husband, Simon Guobadia, has been detained by ICE, and the Real Housewives of Atlanta took her thoughts about it to social media.
Simon’s status:
US Weekly reported Simon is listed as “in ICE custody,” meaning he is being held by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The RHOA star’s Nigerian-born ex is currently being held at Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia, according to U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s records.
His history:
Simon came to the United States in 1982. Allegedly, he overstayed his visa and was declared deportable in 1985. According to Atlanta’s WSB-TV 2, Simon returned to America in 1986 and once again overstayed his work visa.
Then, in 1987, he was arrested. He pleaded guilty to bank and credit card fraud. was later arrested two more times and deported back to Nigeria in 1992.
Guobadia was able to return to the U.S. one month later, according to the news station, which reported on Friday that he applied for naturalization in 2016. However, Guobadia was denied by the U.S. government.
Simon’s residency request – DENIED:
In February 2024, Simon made headlines again. The Atlanta Black Star reported he had been repeatedly denied residency.
What did Simon do? He acted arrogantly on social media.
Simon shared a photo of him smoking a cigar and riding on a golf cart in Georgia. “Happy Tuesday to all who ever overcame and persevered in life. You are winning👌🏾👌🏾#42yearsLivinginAmerica.”
That was the proverbial nail in the coffin for his marriage:
Days after his cocky post, Porsha filed for divorce after being married for 15 months. The pair tied the knot in November 2022 after getting engaged in May 2021. They do not share any children.
Based on an Instagram post that Porsha made on 2/21/2024, things aren’t any more cordial between the estranged couple.
The message has since been removed, but it said …
“It’s disheartening to see my estranged husband make choices that have led to this outcome. At this moment, my priority is moving forward with my family.”
Porsha’s RHOA co-star, Phaedra Parks slipped into the comment section of her post to “Bless his heart 🙏🏽❣️.”
