Molly O’Connell detailed her time as a 22-year-old contestant on America’s Next Top Model.
During an episode of the LadyGang podcast, Molly explained how her modeling days shaped her into the person we see on Southern Charm.
The reality of the early days of reality tv:
When discussing her time modeling on the legendary competition show, Molly explained how different the culture was then. In fact, Molly knows how lucky she was to work with Tyra Banks and not Janice Dickinson. “I’m so glad that she was not on my season.”
Molly explained that she thinks Janice “he feel like she “would have hated” her. “I would have been so sad, but then p*ssed. She was just so mean.โ
โThe show was wild. They definitely messed with us a good bit. They wouldn’t show [certain scenes] and then they would just record me being very angry.”
Molly’s low points from ANTM:
After Molly suffered an allergic reaction to weave, she recalled, “I already had the worst make-up. I was in People Magazine, the worst make-over of top model history besides that beard weave.โ
But, Molly still had a chance of winning Top Model. โI get the most best photos on the whole show.” Then, [her top competitor] Brittani became fashion roadkill. Molly thought, ‘I’ve got this in the bag. I should win.'”
That’s when she got the haircut heard ’round the world …
Molly was told, “We’re going to do something that’s never been seen before on Top Model. We’re going to cut your hair off, both of you. So, it was in the bathroom of the lobby of the hotel that we were filming in.”
“They give Brittani a really cute pixie cut because they knew they were going to pick her when they did that. They had chosen, they knew.โ
Molly said, โThey [did it] just for funsies – I got a Leonardo DiCaprio Titanic bowl [hair]cut.” She thought, “I’m gonna win, and I’ll pay for extensions.”
But, that’s not what went down.
They cut Molly’s hair and immediately eliminated her. “Brittani is the winner,” they declared. “They’re like, oh, by the way, you lose, fly home from Africa in four hours,” she concluded.
Now, on Southern Charm …
The gorgeous, tall, curvaceous, charismatic model is now on Southern Charm. Instead of facing hideous haircuts and difficult producers, Molly is forced to face the men-children on Bravo’s hit show.
Molly has a crush on Shep, who is hung up on a Barbadian beauty pageant winner with perfect freckled lips who clearly doesn’t like him. A red flag.
Then, there’s Whitney Sudler-Smith. Even though his mother champions a potential romance with Molly, he’s commented on what she eats … knowing she has body image issues. Again, the red flag flies.
Craig is single – and considering their history of sexting – Molly is likely interested. Hopefully, with the help of the montage of Craig lying, she’ll see his field of red flags.
