The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Miranda McWhorter was ordered to pay a $12,849 debt. Us Weekly reported that this came after she allegedly blew off a lawsuit.
The debt:
Miranda’s default judgment for $12,849 was entered on August 21 in the Utah court. “The bank demanded that fees and interest be added to the principal, and the court signed off on the request.”
Discover Bank filed the lawsuit in September 2024 over an alleged unpaid bill of $12,409.27. As per court documents, lawyers for the bank claimed that “Payment has not been made on [the] account.”
The lawyer for Discovery alleged, “As a result of services provided at [Miranda’s] request, [Discover] established an account with her. [McWhorter] defaulted on the account by failing to make payments as they became due. Discover attached a copy of Miranda’s bill, which showed the reality star opened her account in 2018.
Per the court docs, Miranda was served with the legal documents in her Utah home, which is worth an estimated $571,000.
The plan:
Miranda’s then-husband, Chase McWhorter, called the process server in January. He told them they were working with a debt relief company to handle the debt. Despite the claim, neither responded to the case in court.
Chase and Miranda were married from 2017 until 2024 and share a son, Brooks, and a daughter named Cohen.
