Mary Cosby is mourning the loss of her only child, Robert Jr.
According to TMZ, Robert died Monday in Utah.
The cause of death has not been confirmed. Police responded to a possible overdose call, which became a death investigation upon arrival.
Salt Lake City police also confirmed they responded Monday night to a “full arrest/medical emergency” involving a 23-year-old male.
Robert Jr.’s passing comes just months after his wife, Alexiana Smokoff, filed for divorce.
ICYMI: The RHOSLC star has been open about her son’s struggles with substance use.
In a deeply candid Season 5 scene that aired in November 2024, Robert spoke with Mary about his addiction for the first time on camera.
He shared that he began using Xanax at 16 after trying it at a party and later abused other prescription drugs, including Adderall and OxyContin.
“I couldn’t even feel it,” he said at the time. “I couldn’t feel it at all.”
He also revealed he had tried heroin and, at his lowest point, had thoughts of wanting to die.
We are holding Mary and the Cosby family in our hearts during this unimaginable loss.
