Mary Bonnet has officially done a 180 on “Flowergate.”
The Selling Sunset star is walking back one of the most heated storylines from Season 9, and it turns out her frustration may not have been about Chelsea Lazkani after all.
ICYMI: The drama between Mary and Chelsea traces back to Season 8 when Mary criticized Chelsea for being late to their co-hosted open house and later commented on her outfit to the Oppenheim brothers.
Fast forward: after Mary’s home robbery, Chelsea sent flowers as a gesture of support.
However, Mary accused her on camera of doing it “for screen time” rather than out of genuine concern.
Speaking to Decider, Mary teased that there’s “much more to the story,” adding that she’s glad certain details weren’t aired “out of respect for [Chelsea].”
When it comes to the flowers, she now says her anger wasn’t directed at Chelsea but at the production team.
After being robbed, Mary told producers she didn’t want “any surprises” on camera.
But production allegedly pushed her to accept the flowers and reveal who sent them on screen.
Given the trauma of a home invasion, Mary says she was overwhelmed and felt her boundaries were being ignored.
Mary’s clarification comes after viewers heavily criticized her behavior this season, especially toward Chelsea.
And I get it.
Going through something as violating as a robbery can absolutely alter your emotional state and sense of safety.
It’s not exactly a recipe for showcasing your best self.
But I’d be lying if I said my perspective on Mary didn’t shift this season too.
I’m curious what other behind-the-scenes moments made her so defensive and whether she would have shared this context if the internet hadn’t reacted so strongly.
