Bombshells, we got a text – Love Island USA execs posted a message reminding fans to “keep it kind” with the Islanders as the new season inches near.
“The Villa runs on good vibes, and so does this community,” the statement read. “We love seeing your reactions, opinions, and debates, but everyone deserves to feel safe and respected. This is a space for fun, not negativity — so keep it kind, keep it positive, and remember: this is LOVE Island!”
Love Island USA’s massive success has ignited more online commentary surrounding the cast and production every year. Last season, Peacock also had to post a “friendly reminder” after negative discourse directed at the Islanders got out of hand.
Last year’s statement read, “We appreciate the fans, the passion for the series, and the amazing group of Islanders who are sharing their summer with us. Please remember they’re real people — so let’s be kind and spread the love!”
Lest not forget the lives lost as the result of online bullying in the Love Island community. The original host of Love Island, Caroline Flack, died by suicide at her London apartment in February 2020 following intense media scrutiny and pending legal proceedings.
Sophie Gradon, a contestant on the 2016 UK series, died by suicide at age 32. Her boyfriend, Aaron Armstrong, took his own life 20 days later. Professional athlete, Mike Thalassitis from the 2017 series, died by suicide at age 26, after battling financial and public pressure.
Ariana Madix will host the new season of LI: USA, which premieres June 2.
