Former Real Housewives of Miami star Lea Black is mourning the loss of her beloved husband, Roy Black.
On July 22, Lea took to Instagram to share the heartbreaking news of Roy’s passing.
“Thank you all for your blessings,” Lea wrote.
“We will be announcing details for a tribute and celebration of life in a few weeks.”
The philanthropist confirmed to People that Roy passed away on Monday, July 21, at their home in Coral Gables, Florida, following an illness. He was 80 years old.
Roy Black was not just Lea’s witty and reserved husband on screen—he was also a powerhouse defense attorney behind the scenes.
Among his most high-profile (and controversial) cases: helping broker Jeffrey Epstein’s now-infamous 2008 plea deal.
The agreement had Epstein pleading guilty to two state charges related to underage prostitution, resulting in just 18 months in a Palm Beach County jail.
Roy’s client list reads like a who’s who of scandal and celebrity.
He represented figures such as Rush Limbaugh, Helio Castroneves, Kelsey Grammer, and even the only defendant to be acquitted in the Varsity Blues college admissions scandal.
ICYMI: Lea Black was an original RHOM cast member during its first three seasons (2011–2013) and returned as a guest in Season 5 (2022).
