Kyle Richards is celebrating another year alcohol-free!
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star took to Instagram to celebrate the milestone with her followers.
“This past week marked 4 years since I gave up alcohol,” Kyle wrote on July 20.
The actress detailed why she initially stopped drinking, explaining she wanted to look and feel better during a difficult time in her life.
“I knew I could still be ‘fun’ without alcohol and feel a lot happier the next day. I quickly learned that the people who had an issue with my choice were more concerned about how it made them feel about themselves,” Kyle continued.
Since quitting drinking, Kyle said she’s much calmer in situations where she previously would have reacted with more anxiety.
While acknowledging her decision isn’t for everyone, the RHOBH star also offered tips and encouragement for anyone considering giving up alcohol.
“For me, I focused on how good I felt, and that was more important to me than having fun for a few hours at a party followed by ‘alcohol doom’ the next day.”
Now, at parties, Kyle reaches for low-sugar nonalcoholic sparkling wine, nonalcoholic beer, and only occasionally enjoys a mocktail due to its high sugar content.
“I didn’t think I’d be here 4 years later sharing that I still haven’t drank,” Kyle said.
“But I’m happy and proud that I can say that.”
And because it’s always worth mentioning, if you or someone you know is struggling with substance use, help is available through the SAMHSA National Helpline at 1-800-662-HELP (4357).
