The star of E!’s The Golden Life, Kelly Bensimon, and Chef Andrew Molen were left injured after a head-on crash in Sarasota, Fla.
According to reports from Page Six, airbags deployed due to the impact of the Uber accident involving the Real Housewives of New York alum and Celebrity Chef.
Details of the crash:
It seems their Uber turned left onto busy Tamiami Trail and was rammed by an oncoming car. The smash sent Kelly, Andrew, and the driver of the other car to the hospital.
Kelly told Page Six she was still reeling from the accident. “I’m lucky to have walked away alive.” The Bravolebrity-turned-E! personality continued, “My right arm is a mess. My head went straight into the back of the seat. It was really bad. I was unconscious for a couple of seconds.” Kelly continued, “I was freaking out. I thought I broke my arm.”
Doctors performed X-rays on her arm and a CAT scan at the hospital. “I am totally out of it, I am in so much pain. My head went back and banged [Andrew] on his chin. There were makeup marks on the airbag.”
Kelly and Andrew saw the car coming and yelled, “Brake, Brake!” According to Andrew, “[The other car] came straight on. You didn’t hear brakes screech. He came straight in at full blast. We got hit so hard. Kelly went flying. I hit the ceiling. Airbags went off. There was dust everywhere.”
“Kelly was out cold, Andrew added. “She kept falling back. The car spun.”
Chef Andrew Molen had to cancel five events this week and will be going back to the doctor. “I am in a lot of pain. They had to help us into ambulances.”
As for this crossover:
For those curious about this connection, Kelly and Chef Andrew have collaborated on events before. Chef Molen was in town cooking and doing kitchen demonstrations for an open house Kelly hosted for a $22 million listing.
The pair were also filming an episode for a digital lifestyle series they are developing called The Chef and the Housewife, which “goes beyond showcasing extraordinary properties by bringing ultra-high-net-worth living to life through food, entertaining, design, and the experiences that define exceptional homes.”
