Karen Huger is still celebrating 20 years of The Real Housewives, despite turning down the chance to film Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip.
The RHOP star spoke with Us Weekly at the RHUGT premiere party about her decision to take a step back.
“The offer was made,” Karen revealed to the publication on August 4.
“I thought for my sobriety, ‘Take it slow,’ because I was planning on coming back to [RHOP] for season 11, and I didn’t want to overdo it,” she continued.
“So I’m here to cheer and support. I can’t wait to see it with you guys.”
The former “Grande Dame” is grateful to the network for allowing her to lay low as she eases her way back into the fold.
“The fact that they recognized me and supported my decision to just stay low for a minute and continue to heal was so, so loving and so supportive. I’m so grateful.”
When The Real Housewives of Potomac season 11 premieres, viewers will see a sober Karen.
However, she admitted her castmates didn’t initially know what to do.
“They were so loving and supportive. You know, we’re messy, so come for me. I can handle it,” she said.
“That’s me. But when they understood my commitment to my sobriety, I think they got on board with it. I’d like to think so. Let’s watch it together. If they come for me, then I will address it at the reunion.”
ICYMI: In December 2024, a Maryland jury found Karen guilty of driving under the influence, driving while intoxicated, negligent driving, and other traffic violations.
The reality star served six months of her two-year sentence before returning home.
The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip premieres Sunday, August 9, on Bravo.
