Dancing With the Stars 34 contestant Corey Feldman opened up about his short-lived time competing for the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy on Gurvey’s Law Radio Show calling the off-screen drama “toxic.”
BTS drama:
The Goonies actor, who was partnered with season 33 winner Jenna Johnson, worked well with Corey, revealed that the negativity he received from Maksim Chmerkovskiy put a damper on his DWTS experience.
“There was a lot of stupidity in the mudslinging that went on behind the scenes,” began Corey. “There, everything was great.”
“But,” continued the License to Drive actor, “the behind-the-scenes drama and BS that people throw around that show, I’ve never seen anything like it.”
“It’s the worst, most toxic.”
The online/social media element:
Corey made the on-screen VS off-screen contrast clear. “On the set, everybody gets along. Everybody’s great. Everybody’s happy. You’re working hard. You don’t even have time to look up. You’re just working.”
“But then you start reading these things in the paper, like, ‘This person’s mad at this person. These people aren’t talking to each other.’ Or ‘Are people working hard enough?'”
Headlines (courtesy of Maks) stated, “Corey Feldman destroyed the show. He destroyed the whole show because he was such an egomaniac [and]so difficult to work with.”
In case you’re not down with the DWTS lore, Jenna is married to Val Chmerkovskiy, whose brother, Maks, went on his podcast to trash Corey. Maks is a former pro-dancer from DWTS.
“I asked Jenna, ‘Where is this coming from?’ She’s like, ‘Oh, it’s just Maks.'”
“She rolls her eyes. She’s like, “Don’t pay attention to him. He just wants attention.'”
“I was like, ‘Oh my God.’”
Re: the DWTS reunion …
The Burbs actor is slated to return for Tuesday night’s finale, which will see Jordan Chiles, Alix Earle, Dylan Efron, Elaine Hendrix, and Robert Irwin compete to win season 34.
During the interview, Corey said he was ‘not excited’ to dance again. However, Corey did an interview with PEOPLE making his POV known … “I want to make it absolutely clear that my experience on Dancing with the Stars has been positive.”
“Everyone associated with the show, from my fellow cast members to the pros, crew and production team, has treated me with nothing but kindness, support and respect.”
“The issues I was referring to have nothing to do with the show itself,” he continued. “They relate to the outside commentary, rumors, and individuals who are no longer directly involved with DWTS but still feel entitled to weigh in and create unnecessary drama.”
