The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Miranda Hope‘s ex Chase McWhorter cut a plea deal with prosecutors in his DUI case, avoiding jail time.
TMZ obtained legal documents showing that Chase pled guilty to one count of misdemeanor DUI. In exchange, prosecutors agreed to drop the other charges.
The judge ordered Chase to get probation, do community service, and undergo a substance abuse evaluation instead of jail time. Chase was ordered to pay a $1,383 fine, complete 48 hours of community service, and serve a year of probation.
ICYMI, The U.S. Sun reported that the plea deal comes about a year after Chase was arrested for DUI and possession of a controlled substance. He was originally busted last year during the 4th of July weekend.
Utah police say officers initiated the stop after observing Chase’s “vehicle drift outside of the travel lane several times. He smelled like alcohol, had bloodshot eyes, and slurred speech.”
“I was pulled over for driving under the influence,” admitted Chase. “I had ingested substances that I shouldn’t have and got behind the wheel. [It was] an extremely short-sighted, selfish, dangerous decision.”
Chase admitted, “I should’ve Ubered.”
“That decision alone kills people every single day, so I understand the severity.”
He went on to call the arrest “humiliating,” adding that it was a “terrible look” and that he’s hit some real lows on social media. Chase also shared that he told his ex-wife, Miranda McWhorter, the next day. “Unfortunately, I have been a disappointment to her a number of times,” he said, noting the impact it’s had on their co-parenting.
